We are a young and dynamic centre belonging to the University of Vigo. We are located in the Campus of Ourense Campus of Ourense, a urban Campus in the city of Ourense

Our goals are to develop knowledge and to educate creative people. We want to promote the highest quality, the accuracy and the applied research, and to educate innovative individuals; to provide them with useful tools and perspectives to contribute to the social and economic progress within the organisations in which they take part. We aim for contributing to the development of the area in which we are and for educating global professionals.

The University of Vigo, aiming for offering educational alternatives to improve the available offer, provides the possibility of studying simultaneously the Bachelor’s Degree in Geography and History and the Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism in the Campus of Ourense,by means of a joint programme developed by the Faculty of History and the Faculty of Business Sciences and Tourism, drawn from the official study plans.

The Joint Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism and Geography and History is regulated, as all the joint bachelor’s degrees in the University of Vigo, by the Regulation for Joint Bachelor’s Degrees in Official Studies on the University of Vigo (approved by the Governing Council on the 23rd June, 2015, modified by the Governing Council on the 12th February, 2016).

 

These are the main milestones in our Faculty’s history:


Year 1986-1987
The School of Business Studies begins to operate with the three-year degree in Business Sciences in the premises of the Old Hospital in the Campus of Ourense.

Year 2000/2001
After the granting of the second cycle on the five-year degree in Business Administration and Management, the Faculty of Business Sciences is created, being located in the Legal-Business Building within the new area of the University Campus.

Year 2003/2004
The three-year degree in Tourism is launched, and the centre changes its name to Faculty of Business Sciences and Tourism.

Year 2007/2008
The Faculty begins the implementation process of the new Bachelor’s Degrees, Master’s Degrees and PhDs within the European Higher Education Area. The Inter-University Master’s Degree in Tourism Management and Planning is launched, which is integrated into the Tourism Management and Planning PhD Programme two years later.

Year 2008/2009
The Master’s Degree in Business Innovation and Entrepreneurship is launched.

Year 2009/2010
The Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Management and the Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism are launched.

Year 2011/2012
The Master’s Degree in Sports Business Management is launched, and the Master’s Degree in Tourism Management and Planning becomes the Master’s Degree in Inland and Health Tourism Management and Planning.

Year 2013/2014
The Joint Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Management and Computer Engineering (BAM-Computer Engineering) is launched.

Year 2014/2015
The Joint Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Management and Law (BAM-Law) is launched. The lectures in BAM start to be taught in English.

Year 2015/2016
An institutional agreement with the Hochschule Bremerhaven (Germany) is signed, allowing the BAM students of our Faculty to obtain the International Joint Bachelor’s Degree in BAM (Spain) & Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration (Germany).

Year 2016/2017
The Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism starts to be taught in English.

Year 2017/2018
The Joint Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism and Geography and History is launched.

Year 2018/2019
The first promotions on the Joint Bachelor’s Degrees in BAM-Computer Engineering and in BAM-Law graduate.

Year 2021/2022
The Joint Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism + Cruise Tourism starts to be taught.
